Information

The platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) is well known for its duck-like bill, webbed feet, and thick waterproof fur. As a predator of insect larvae and other small aquatic creatures, it plays a vital part in freshwater ecosystems. Platypuses are considered near threatened, facing threats from habitat loss, drought, pollution, and climate change. Conservation efforts are becoming more crucial to ensure this unique Australian species continues to flourish.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Are the glasses dishwasher safe?

Our glasses are built for daily use and dishwasher safe, remaining clear and residue-free over time. The Bay of Fires glass, however, should be hand washed to protect the colored resin.

What are the glasses made from?

Our glasses are made from borosilicate glass, used in Pyrex and ovenware, known for durability and thermal shock resistance. While it can withstand extreme temperatures, avoid pouring boiling water into them, as the glass will become very hot.

How durable are the glasses?

Borosilicate glass is durable and suitable for everyday use, but it can break if dropped on hard surfaces like concrete. Regular handling, such as hand washing, celebrating, or shipping, rarely causes breakage. We suggest enabling shipping protection at checkout for quick and easy replacement of damaged or lost parcels.

Can I buy the coasters separately?

Currently, coasters are not sold separately and are only available packaged with a glass. We may offer them individually in future.

How do you get the 3D design into the glass?

This occurs during the last stage of our production process. Glass 'blanks' are heated again and pressed by hand onto graphite molds, creating a hollow 3D relief on the base.
